What is CT Scanning?

CT scanning—sometimes called CAT scanning—is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions.

CT scanning combines special x-ray equipment with sophisticated computers to produce multiple images or pictures of the inside of the body.

How Does Contrast Media Work?

A small needle is first placed into a vein in the hand or arm by the radiologist, technologist or a nurse and held in place with tape or a strap. Once the needle is in place, the vein is flushed with saline solution. Typically the contrast is loaded into a power-assisted injector, which injects the CT contrast using tubing through the needle into the body during a specific period in the CT exam. The contrast may also be hand injected using a large syringe connected to the needle via tubing.

Once the iodine contrast has been injected into the blood stream, it circulates through the heart and passes into the arteries, through the body's capillaries and then into the veins and back to the heart. As CT images are being acquired, the CT's x-ray beam is attenuated (weakened) as they pass through the blood vessels and organs flush with the contrast. This causes the blood vessels and organs filled with the contrast to "enhance" and show up as white areas on the x-ray or CT images. The kidneys and liver eliminate the contrast from the blood.

Why CT Natural ?

The CT Contrast Media used to generate these fascinating images is a cleaning nightmare. During the process of hooking up IV Lines to the Contrast Injector some Contrast Media ends up on every surface in the CT Suite! We have seen spills on walls, on floors, on Scanners, and every other kind of equipment in the CT Suite.

  • Techs have been fighting this problem forever!
  • Environmental Service Workers in Hospitals and Clinics have been fighting this problem forever!
  • Maintenance Workers have been fighting this problem forever!
  • Service technicians spend hours cleaning scanners before they can do repairs and preventative maintenance. (We know what they get paid!)

Until now all these people have done what they could to clean up these messes. Small spills even take a lot of time.

  • They have used hot wet towels and soaked the spills so they could take a putty knife and scrape them up! (About 20 Minutes and can leave scratch marks)
  • They have scraped and scrub with every kind of cleanser (About 30 minutes and ruins some surfaces underneath)
  • They have even painted over spills on walls! ...Repeatedly!

  • The simple solution to all this time, effort, and waste.... CT Natural!
